The Taj mahal is a white marble Mausoleum built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his Favourite wife, mumtaj  mahal, who died in 1631. 

construction began around 1632 and was completed in 1653, employing thousands of artisans and craftsman. it is a masterpiece of Mughal architecture located in Agra, on the banks of the Yamuna River.
